A Studio Conversation with Beci Orpin

A Studio Conversation with Beci Orpin

Hoddle's Range 25 collaboration with Melbourne artist and designer Beci Orpin brings together two long-standing threads of Melbourne's creative identity: independent skateboarding and contemporary graphic art.

For Hoddle, collaborations have always been about documenting the people and ideas that shape the city around them. Rather than treating board graphics as purely commercial products, the brand has consistently used them as a platform for artists, photographers and friends connected to the culture. The Range 25 project continues that tradition by inviting Beci Orpin's instantly recognisable visual language into skateboarding once again.

Orpin's work is known for its bold colour, geometric forms, optimism and playful hand-drawn aesthetics. Over the past 25 years she has built a career spanning illustration, publishing, textiles, public art, fashion, food-truck branding and large-scale installations, becoming one of Melbourne's most recognisable visual artists.

The collaboration is significant because it bridges two generations of creative Melbourne. Hoddle represents a newer wave of independent skateboarding rooted in the city's streets and communities, while Orpin's work has helped define Melbourne's visual culture since the late 1990s. Together, the collection celebrates creativity outside traditional boundaries—where skateboarding, design and art naturally overlap.
